What is
St. Benedict’s Young Adults Group about?
St. Benedict’s Young Adults Group is open to any
and all young adults between the ages of 18 to their late 30s.
All perspectives are welcome and strongly encouraged. There is
no commitment necessary to get involved. Everyone is welcome to
check out any of our meetings and/or events at any time.
The group provides a safe and comfortable
environment where young adults can come together to openly
express themselves, ask questions, and learn from one
another about their faith and spirituality. St. Benedict’s
YAG’s main goal is to encourage and help young adults
explore and develop their faith and spirituality by catering
to their individual needs through its three pillars:
faith sharing, community service, and
social/fellowship.
Why
is it named “St. Benedict’s Young Adults Group” in
St. Thomas More Church?
“St. Thomas More Young Adults Group” first
launched in November 2008. In June 2009, Monsignor Labib Kobti
came up with the idea and renamed it to “St. Benedict's Young
Adults Group” in loving memory of Benedict Aguas
(2/22/81-5/30/09). Ben was one of the pioneers of the group. He
served as the main inspiration and advisor to his younger
sister, Bernice, as she created and began leading the group. Ben
peacefully passed away on Pentecost in May 2009 but his spirit
and passion lives on through the mission and members of St.
Benedict's Young Adults Group.
