Welcome,
Newcomers!
Along
with our priests, staff, and parishioners, I wish to welcome you to
St. Thomas More Church in San Francisco. As you can see from
visiting our church and from our website, we are a diverse community
bonded together through our faith in Jesus Christ and our trust in
the Blessed Mother, Mary. We represent
various ethnicities and all age groups from tots to teens to young
adults, the middle aged, and elders. Some are single; some are
married; some are widowed; some are divorced. Our parishioners are
students, craftsmen and women, merchants, teachers, musicians,
artists, accountants, clerks, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and stay-at-home moms. We pray
with and for each other.
The
Eucharist is the source and summit of spirituality, and we certainly
look forward to your joining us each Sunday. Mass is celebrated in
several languages (God understands them all), and there are age appropriate liturgies of the
Word for children. We have faith formation classes for our
youngsters and youth. Our parish provides campus ministry to San
Francisco State University students. Adults interested in exploring the Catholic faith
are invited to RCIA; a new class begins each October and extends
through March. There is
Bible study for everyone, and our various choirs are always happy to
have new voices. We have many other community-building activities
and service projects where you might find friends and fellowship and
the opportunity to contribute your time and talent. We invite invite
you to join us on pilgrimages to the Holy Land.
With our
various ethnic groups, can you imagine the variety of food we enjoy at
our parties! Yes, remembering that Jesus loved a good party, we get
together to eat and have fun.
There are
serious times too. When and if you or family member needs a priest,
whether for baptism or to witness your marriage or to anoint the
sick or to bury the dead, we are honored to be of service.
Please
join us on Sunday for Mass and be sure, for Christ’s sake, to
introduce yourself so that we can welcome you in person into our
church family.
Sincerely
in Christ,
Monsignor
Labib Kobti
